Broken steel shot

Broken steel shot is a high-hardness product used, among other things, to remove old protective coatings. However, this is not its only use. It can also be used to improve the adhesion (roughness) of metal surfaces before painting, or to clean steel and iron castings.

Specification:

High-carbon broken cast steel shot according to ISO 11125-1 is produced by crushing round cast steel shot.
We offer it in three standard hardnesses according to ISO 11125-3:
GP: 450 – 550 HV ± 40 HV (45 – 52 ± 2 HRC).
GL: 600 – 700 HV ± 45 HV (54 – 59 ± 2 HRC).
GH: 800 – 950 HV ± 60 HV (64 – 68 ± 3 HRC).


Chemical composition as high-carbon round shot in accordance with ISO 11125-1.
Broken shot grain size according to spread: G 10 to G 325 according to SAE J444 AUG 84 revised in May 1993.

The main use of sharp-edged shots for pneumatic abrasive blasting in chambers and cabins in order to:

  • cleaning surfaces from contamination and degraded coatings,

  • roughening the surface to increase the adhesion of protective coatings,

  • unifying the appearance of surfaces,

  • removing burrs and sprues,

  • removal of carbon deposits from heat-hardened GL castings.
